Thai Consumers Concerned About Microplastics, Driving Water Purifier Market to THB 14 Billion

Thai consumers are becoming increasingly aware of health and drinking water safety, particularly concerning microplastics and other contaminants in tap water. This has driven the water purifier market in Thailand to reach a value of 14 billion baht, with an average annual growth rate of 5% since 2016.

Consumers are turning to water purifiers equipped with technologies capable of filtering out tiny particles such as microplastics, bacteria, chemical residues (like PFAS), and pharmaceutical substances, while still preserving essential minerals in the water.

New-generation water purifiers are being developed with greater efficiency, using multi-layer filtration systems combined with UV-C or LED sterilization. These purifiers are designed for long-term use, requiring filter replacement only once a year, and are cost-effective compared to bottled water.

Companies in the market compete through innovation, pricing, and after-sales service. At the same time, they are investing in marketing and raising public awareness about drinking water contamination issues.

The water purifier market is expected to continue growing in the long term, especially among urban households and health- and environmentally-conscious consumers.
